David Jensen

David founded Brooklands Executives Limited and has built the business into a market leader.

Prior to starting the company, David spent several years as one of the highest individual producers in the UK Interim Executive market where he trebled the size of one of the leading intermediaries, in just three years. David’s success was due in part to his 360 degree view of the Interim Executive market – he has operated as one himself, hired them and now places them with some of the world’s leading companies and brands.

David has held senior sales and marketing posts, general management and Managing Director posts in a range of major international businesses – United Glass, Reed International, Caddie SA, BUPA, Zenith SA, Chinacraft, and latterly Accor Corporate Services.

His international experience over many years of developing products and service solutions for Board Directors has seen him working in countries as diverse as USA, Denmark, Italy, France, Switzerland and the UAE to name a few.

When not working, David tries to grab some time at his house in Ibiza where he is battling blazing sun and scarcity of water to grow an almond grove.

Clive Bennett

Clive has been providing interim manage-ment solutions to both public and private sector organisations for over 12 years.

His early career was built on a steel industry apprenticeship, a chemical engineering degree, and a progression to Plant Manager within Unilever’s food interests. His decision, aged 30, and with a young family, to embark on a self-funded MBA at London Business School proved a ‘life changing’ experience. Over the following 20 years his portfolio career encompassed Management Consultancy within PA’s General Management and Oil & Gas Divisions, Programme Management in the USA, Divisional MD of a quoted UK company, and leading a VC backed MBO/MBI through a turnaround!

Since moving into Interim Management in the mid-90’s, Clive has been a passionate advocate of the benefits interim managers bring to both public and private sector organisations. His first-hand experience of designing and delivering business transformation forms the core of his belief in the part interim managers can play in developing the professional skills within the client’s own core team to leave an enduring legacy. Clive leads our Public Sector practice as he has a long and successful track record in this arena and it optimises our Catalist / Buying Solutions accreditation as one of the few Government pre-approved suppliers of Interim Executive Management.

An avid scuba diver and nature lover with a pioneering streak, Clive organises and leads expeditions to increasingly far flung destinations ‘off the beaten track’. Now finally thawed out after diving with leopard seals and icebergs in Antarctica he’d welcome suggestions for 2010 – somewhere warm!

Martin Borland

Client Services Director (South East)

Martin Borland

Martin has a wide remit at Brooklands and considers this the most fulfilling thing he has done in his career to date. In particular Martin finds immense satisfaction from the win/win situation when clients identify a need to fill an assignment or role and Martin delivers candidates that deliver.

Prior to joining Brooklands, Martin was General Manager of Doctors Direct plc, a company supplying private General Practitioner services to corporate clients and the public. Most of his working life however has been spent in the City at Lloyds of London. Having started his training in one of the bigger broking houses he, through a series of moves and promotions, became a Director of one of the medium sized broking houses. This has given him a wide experience of doing business on an international scale and dealing with a colourful and varied client base.

Outside the working environment Martin enjoys racing both horses and Formula 1. He confesses to a fondness for Arsenal, which provides an expensive and often disappointing enjoyment of sport. He also enjoys sailing and fine dining.

A qualified engineer, Bruce has held senior manufacturing and engineering roles with GEC and most recently Renold, in both chain and gear manufacturing businesses. Whilst heading the Engineering department at Renold Gears, new product introduction, on-site performance analysis and assessment of offshore suppliers, were areas he developed specific knowledge in. Bruce has wide ranging expertise in all aspects of design and production, which has taught him the importance of teamwork and getting the right players in place to make it work. He is a qualified assessor. Bruce heads up our Manufacturing, Engineering and Production practice.

When not getting his hands dirty with all of the above, he enjoys supporting Sale RUFC. He then works off the resulting frustration by, slowly, restoring his 120 year old Victorian house.

David Hay

Prior to entering the recruitment industry 20 years ago, David’s earlier career was in IT management in the oil, manufacturing and automotive sectors, followed by a period in hardware sales in the telecommunications industry.

Starting as a specialist IT recruiter he quickly broadened his brief to general, cross sector Executive Search with a global management consulting firm, before establishing his own practice in the mid 1990s. He has also spent the last 3 years as an Associate of another specialist Interim Provider.

A Scot by birth, he and his family have lived in the West Midlands since the late 1970s.

In recent years, much of his recruitment focus has been in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) market, where he has recruited staff for newly launched UK subsidiaries of several North American and European businesses.

When not working or travelling, David is a keen Rugby Union follower. In his younger days, he was a RFU qualified Junior Coach. His claim to fame is having his coaching ‘career’ brought to an abrupt end through injury – inflicted by an Under 15s pack, including his own son!

Simon is a chartered accountant who enjoys helping businesses meet their challenges by providing highly experienced people on a project basis.

Following qualification with the “big few”, Simon worked in the oil industry during the North Sea boom, stockbroking during Big Bang, and an advertising agency during the 90’s recession. After ten years’ experience in commercial financial management up to Finance Director level, Simon specialised in business development with leading mid tier accountancy practices and then built on that experience to offer Interim Executives to businesses on a project basis, initially with one of the other market leaders. Simon heads up our activity with the Oil & Gas market and Professional Practices. He also has expertise in AIM listed businesses.

When he is not out networking, Simon is either nursing his 30 years old campervan through its next MOT or teaching karate with the Japan Karate Association, where he is treasurer and holds a second dan black belt. Consequently David never argues with him.

Margaret Sheppard

It was just over two years ago that Margaret joined the Brooklands team as Director of Professional Development. As a former Director of Right Coutts Margaret has over thirty years experience in helping organisations to improve effectiveness and maintain their competitive edge through the development of their people.

Margaret is experienced in the design and delivery of training and counselling, coaching and mentoring programmes to a wide variety of public and private sector organisations. The diversity of her portfolio is reflected in the cross-cultural teams Margaret has managed with projects in Western Europe, UK, USA, Hong Kong and the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

The image of professional development being a “pink and fluffy” activity is far from the challenges that Margaret has overcome, for example
acting as a coach of choice for Chase in the Asia Pacific region; and designing an assessment centre process for a major UK FMCG company that enabled them to locate, assess and recruit twenty new graduates in the PRC.

When not clucking over her corporate flock, Margaret is a keen hen enthusiast.
